April - A big month of training and education.
In April Local 1168 seized many opportunities to further our education, attend trainings and network with other union members and organizers from around the world...
New Steward Orientation
Over two days, Local 1168 hosted new steward training; onboarding nearly a dozen new stewards to the ranks. These members learned from our officers and senior leadership what it takes to be a great representative and steward. Our numbers continue to grow and there is still room for more! If you or your co-workers are interested in becoming a Union Steward reach out to your Area Vice President or contact our office fore more details.
Clara Allen Leadership School
Several of our Executive Board members attended the Clara L Allen Leadership School from April 15 through 19 at the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
The training brought together dozens of CWA activists from locals throughout District 1 to hone their leadership skills and learn from one another with sessions on topics such as member mobilization and political action.
Labor Notes
Several members of our Executive Board and Stewards of the local traveled to Chicago to attend Labor Notes. An international conference attended by nearly 5,000 people.
They attended dozens of workshops, sat on panels and visited sessions taught and held by some of the most influential hardworking people in the labor movement.
