CWA Local 1168 is Placed Under Temporary Administration - Update #1

On June 24, 2026 the CWA Executive Board (National Union) placed Local 1168 into Temporary Administration. The purpose of a Temporary Administration (trusteeship) within CWA is to allow the National Union to temporarily conduct the affairs of the Local until the problems that lead to the trusteeship are resolved. 

Erin Spaulding, CWA Staff Representative has been appointed by the CWA Executive Board as Temporary Administrator of CWA Local 1168. Therefore, Erin will have complete control over the Local and its functions until the Temporary Administration is lifted.

The Local was put under temporary administration for the following reasons:

• CWA Local President Cori Gambini, Executive Vice-President Robert Andruszko, Secretary Treasurer Curtis Paine and five Area Vice-Presidents requested that the National Union put the Local under Temporary Administration. 
• There are serious allegations concerning a Board Member and a Special Director who have been accused of financial misconduct.
• There are currently dueling charges pending in the Local and they will need to be evaluated and resolved pursuant to the CWA Constitution.

The requesting officers wanted to ensure that none of this activity, detracted from the representation of Local 1168 members.  They wrote, “the interest of our members must always take precedence over the titles and the offices we hold”.

We are committed to ensuring that you, our members, receive the representation deserved during the period of trusteeship. We are committed to working hard to resolve the internal problems inside the Local and to turn the running of the Local back over to you as soon as possible.  We will keep you updated in the coming week.
