Bargaining Update - Planned Parenthood of WCNY
Dear Planned Parenthood Union Members,
We continue to meet with the Agency in an effort to reach an agreement. Over the past few sessions, we have narrowed down the open items. We have recently resolved the following articles:
- Paid Sick Leave: Added an option to buy out up to $1000 of PSL for the 2025 calendar year. This will be a trial for management to evaluate if they would like to continue the buyout option in future years.
- Hours of Work: Added in volunteer pay for a partial shift.
- Emergency Closure: Made improvements to the number of days during an emergency closure.
The following items are still open:
- Wages & Duration: We continue to fight for wage increases for all members in line with market changes and cost of living increases.
- Paid Time Off: We have made multiple proposals to increase PTO, but so far the Agency is not interested in increasing PTO.
- On-Call Pay: We are still fighting for on-call improvements!
One of the most difficult issues on the table right now is Health Insurance. The plans that the Agency offers will be experiencing significant rate increases next year. The Signature Co-Pay Plan will be increasing by 18%. The Agency initially proposed eliminating the plan, which we have pushed back on. Their most recent proposal includes the following:
- HDHP 1500 & 3000 plans will be replaced with the HDHP 2000 & 4000 plans. HDHP 6500 will remain in place
- Small improvements to the HDHP plans to compensate for the rate increases, as well as to encourage people to switch to these plans.
- Significant decreases to the cost-sharing for the Signature Co-Pay Plan as follows:
In 2025, 70% of the cost of single coverage and 60% of the cost of two person and family coverage for full-time employees and 60% of the cost of single coverage and 50% of the cost of two person and family coverage for part-time employees;
In 2026, 60% of the cost of single coverage and 50% of the cost of two person and family coverage for full-time employees and 50% of the cost of single coverage and 40% of the cost of two person and family coverage for part-time employees;
In 2027, 50% of the cost of single coverage and 40% of the cost of two person and family coverage for full-time employees and 40% of the cost of single coverage and 30% of the cost of two person and family coverage for part-time employees.
The Agency has also advised us that the changes we agree to on Health Insurance will impact what they are able to offer on wage increases.
The bargaining committee is very concerned about this proposal on health insurance. The changes will make the Signature Co-Pay Plan unaffordable. Please reach out to a bargaining committee member if you have any questions or feedback!
